Raise the Red Lantern Film Analysis

Image
Raise the Red Lantern is a film that has played an important role in the history of China. Therefore, I want to make a more detailed analysis of this film through what I have learned in this semester, including scene analysis and film analysis. For scene analysis, I chose the very beginning of the film: when Songlian was just entering the Qiao Family Compound, based on what Songlian said with housekeeper and Yan'er was worth exploring. Scene Analysis Figure 1: First of all, Figure 1 shows the moment that Songlian first enters the house. This image uses a median-shot to show a 20-year-old girl, Songlian. The image shows a low-angle shot of a man in a white T-shirt clenching his fist. He had short black hair, sweat all over his body, and a muscular right arm. From the face, the man's brow is furrowed, his mouth is open, as if he is breathing heavily in anger, and his eyes are full of power. The man is almost in the middle of the screen, slightly to the left; The top of his head was not fully revealed, and the top part was cut off; His upper body was also incomplete, with the frame cutting off the entire chest below, including a portion of his right arm. The background looks like it's in a room with some white pipes and yellow wood overhead. The man is in crisp focus, but the background is out of focus. In addition, he can be seen with a small white cloth wrapped around the index finger of his right hand, corresponding to the color of his T-shirt and a scar on his right wrist. This screen cap shows that Bruce lee has just finished a full battle, after he realized that t...
