The image shows a low-angle shot of a man in a white T-shirt clenching his fist. He had short black hair, sweat all over his body, and a muscular right arm. From the face, the man's brow is furrowed, his mouth is open, as if he is breathing heavily in anger, and his eyes are full of power. The man is almost in the middle of the screen, slightly to the left; The top of his head was not fully revealed, and the top part was cut off; His upper body was also incomplete, with the frame cutting off the entire chest below, including a portion of his right arm. The background looks like it's in a room with some white pipes and yellow wood overhead. The man is in crisp focus, but the background is out of focus. In addition, he can be seen with a small white cloth wrapped around the index finger of his right hand, corresponding to the color of his T-shirt and a scar on his right wrist.

This screen cap shows that Bruce lee has just finished a full battle, after he realized that the ice factory owner was not just an ordinary businessman. Chao-an wanted to prove his point. He broke into the ice factory in the middle of the night and proved his guesstimate is correct. Then, a large number of people came to kill Chao-an, which aroused Chao-an's anger. While it was not a close match, but Bruce lee released all his anger for the sake of justice in his heart and friendship with his brothers. He knocked down all his enemies and even killed some of them. This also shows us Bruce lee's super high Kung Fu strength. From his eyes, you can also intuitively see the anger in Bruce lee's heart. This is a moment for Bruce lee's inner vision, both of anger and a little hesitation. He went against his mother's wishes, got into trouble and killed people outside, and his eyes seemed to say, what have I done with my fists?

  1. Very good descriptive content for the shot analysis. I can't say that there are any major details about the shot itself that you left out, but some commentary on the lighting would have been nice to see. My only genuine criticism of the shot analysis part is really grammatical: the paragraph should 1.) have a consistent tense and 2.) that tense should be present since you are currently analysing the shot even though it is of a move that you have seen in the past. On to the contextualizing paragraph, the description of the setting within the movie and the events leading up to this shot are fairly accurate, and you do a good job of explaining Chao-an's mental state during this arc of the film. A criticism of mine would, again, be grammatical (but perhaps stylistic), as you keep switching between referring to the person doing the ass-kicking as Bruce Lee and Cheng Chao-an. It should at least be consistent past a certain point once you've established that Chao-an is played by Bruce Lee. My comments are mostly nitpicky, so overall great post!

  2. I found it interesting that you really focused on analyzing Chao-an's eyes, as you described them as filled with anger, but also regret. I agree that maybe his whole facial expression conveys anger, but also a tinge of regret or fear, because he is unsure of how much power and violence he is capable of.

  3. I loved your comment on Bruce Lee's intense eyes. Most people say that the eyes are the gateway to the soul, as well as the view point of most emotional tension. The fact that we see a mix of emotions that portray the scene perfectly coincides with Bruce Lee's acting ability as Chao-an.
